MTOM

Led by Experience, Guided by Culture

Many Tribes, One Mob was founded to bridge the gap between Aboriginal communities and the support they need. At the heart of our organisation is Shannon Thorne, a proud Kamilaroi and Wiradjuri man with over 18 years of experience in health, community services, and advocacy.

Shannon has dedicated his career to ensuring Aboriginal people receive the support they deserve in a way that is culturally safe, respectful, and empowering. His passion stems from a lifelong commitment to his community, growing up in a family that fostered over 280 children, instilling in him the values of care, respect, and self-determination.

Shannon’s vision for Many Tribes, One Mob is simple: to provide culturally safe, holistic support that empowers Aboriginal NDIS participants to take control of their lives. He believes in meeting people where they are and walking alongside them, rather than imposing rigid, one-size-fits-all solutions.

Balancing Leadership & Community Impact

Alongside his work with Many Tribes, One Mob, Shannon continues to hold leadership roles in health services, the not-for-profit sector, and government. As the first-ever NSW Aboriginal Advocate for Children and Young People, he worked to amplify the voices of vulnerable Aboriginal children and families, ensuring their stories and struggles were heard at the highest levels. His expertise in navigating complex systems allows him to create meaningful, long-term solutions for those who need it most.

Shannon and the team at Many Tribes, One Mob are committed to creating a future where Aboriginal people receive the support they need while staying connected to culture, community, and Country.

It's our responsibility to create space for our children to speak their truths, even when their little voices shake.

Their words carry the wisdom of our ancestors and the dreams of generations to come. Let us guide them with love, so they may walk tall, proud, and connected in who they are. We are only visitors in this moment of time, let us make their path one of safety, strength, and cultural pride.
